Job Summary

Responsible for the assessment, development, implementation and administration of Geisinger’s system-wide employee compensation program. Ensures compensation practices are market competitive, reasonable and compliant with all applicable federal and state regulatory requirements. Establishes compensation levels and practices that are fair and equitable and that enhance the selection and retention of a qualified workforce.

Job Duties

  • Conducts ongoing, thorough market research at a macro and micro level to ensure that the system’s compensation programs are market competitive and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Benchmarks jobs using salary survey results and provides recommendations for salary grade placement, market adjustment, and minimum hiring rates.
  • Reviews and approves job descriptions and ensures that descriptions are compliant with system standards and external regulations.
  • Educates and trains managers and employees on compensation practices and guidelines, verbally and in writing. Develops education and training material as applicable.
  • Evaluates requests for new, existing or modified jobs by completing thorough job analysis and assessment. Reviews job duties, qualifications, and certification requirements and performs comparative analyses of positions to assess the level and complexity of the positions and for placement at the appropriate salary grade level.
  • Administers the position review and cost analysis associated with the annual compensation forecast, ad-hoc requests, department reorganizations, new programs, and merger and acquisitions.
  • Recommends participation in, submits data to, and analyzes external third-party salary surveys used in benchmarking.
  • Evaluates, recommends, and provides cost analysis for pay arrangements used to recruit and retain employees.
  • Analyzes reasonableness and fair market value of compensation arrangements.
  • Routinely assesses pay equity and salary compression.
  • Keeps abreast of the regulatory landscape that governs compensation at a state and federal level.
  • Creates and maintains compensation processes that support the system’s human capital management system. Responsible for completing tasks and system configuration as needed.
